Project Overview

This project replaces the existing Portage Bay Bridge, with two segmental box girder bridges across Portage Bay. This project extends the SR 520’s transit/HOV system from Montlake to I-5 and the cross-lake bicycle and pedestrian trail over Portage Bay to a new lid structure between Delmar Drive East and 10th Avenue East.

Transcon-specific scope of work

Transcon’s contract includes design optimization and construction of WSDOT and City of Seattle Illumination and signalization, electrical and ITS raceway within and underneath bridge structures, pedestrian trail lighting, WSDOT ITS systems, highway monotube signage structures and electronic VMS signage, Seattle City Light and 3rd party duct bank systems, and multiple temporary configurations of these systems to accommodate construction phasing.
