Project Overview
The SR 167 Completion Project Stage 2B is the final phase of Washington State’s SR 167 Completion Project, extending the new tolled expressway 2.6 miles between Interstate 5 in Fife and the Puyallup Recreation Center. Owned by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), the project will improve regional mobility by completing critical highway connections, constructing new bridges and interchanges, enhancing active transportation facilities, and restoring environmentally sensitive habitat throughout the Puyallup River Valley. Scheduled for completion in 2029, the project represents a significant investment in transportation infrastructure that will improve freight movement, reduce congestion, and strengthen regional connectivity.
Transcon-specific scope of work
Transcon is providing electrical infrastructure for the SR 167 Completion Project Stage 2B, supporting the installation of roadway illumination and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) throughout the corridor. The scope includes installation of underground conduit systems, electrical wiring, fiber optic infrastructure, lighting systems, traffic signal components, and ITS facilities required to support highway operations, traveler information, and tolling infrastructure.
Work includes installation of electrical systems associated with new bridges, interchanges, roadway corridors, and sign structures while coordinating with multiple construction disciplines across a large-scale transportation project. Construction activities require careful sequencing around active traffic, temporary traffic control systems, railroad crossings, bridge structures, and phased roadway construction. Through close coordination with the design-build team and project stakeholders, Transcon is delivering critical electrical infrastructure that will support the long-term safety, efficiency, and reliability of one of Washington’s most significant transportation improvement projects.
