Project Overview
The RapidRide J Line Bus Rapid Transit Project is a major transportation infrastructure improvement for the City of Seattle extending from Downtown Seattle to the University District along Stewart Street, Virginia Street, Boren Avenue, Fairview Avenue, Eastlake Avenue, Roosevelt Way NE, and NE 43rd Street. The project constructs infrastructure supporting the RapidRide transit network and includes extensive roadway reconstruction, sidewalk and ADA improvements, drainage systems, utility coordination, traffic control, and transit station construction throughout a dense urban corridor. Base bid work includes earthwork, pavement and sidewalk removal and replacement, new stations, overhead trolley system removal and installation, traffic signals, lighting, landscaping, water main improvements, storm drainage, and related transportation infrastructure improvements.
Transcon-specific scope of work
Transcon’s heavy civil electrical scope includes installation of illumination and electrical systems, traffic signal systems, electrical conduit and trenching, communication infrastructure, CCTV camera systems, video detection systems, service cabinets, poles, pedestals, and electrical foundations associated with the RapidRide corridor improvements. Additional scope includes King County Metro trolley system installation, overhead wire infrastructure, electrical crossings beneath streetcar slabs, bus rapid transit station electrical systems, utility coordination, temporary traffic control systems, and electrical testing and commissioning required to maintain safe and continuous transit and roadway operations throughout phased construction. The project also includes integration of King County Metro electrical materials, power pedestal/service cabinet systems, and communications infrastructure supporting transit technology and operational systems.
