Project Overview
The I-5/Yesler Way to Northgate – Pavement, Deck, Joints & Drainage Project includes major rehabilitation and modernization improvements along a heavily traveled corridor of Interstate 5 through Seattle. The design-build project includes pavement rehabilitation, bridge deck and joint repairs, drainage upgrades, utility coordination, and maintenance of traffic operations throughout multiple interchanges and ramp systems. Work is performed within an active urban highway corridor requiring complex staging, continuous traffic operations, and coordination with existing transportation infrastructure and utility systems.
Transcon-specific scope of work
Transcon’s heavy civil electrical scope includes installation, maintenance, testing, and protection of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic signal systems, highway illumination systems, fiber optic communications infrastructure, CCTV cameras, Variable Message Signs (VMS), and Active Traffic Management System (ATMS) gantries. The project also includes temporary and permanent electrical system testing, utility relocations, protection in place of existing utilities, and coordination of communications cabinets and fiber optic infrastructure required to maintain continuous operation of WSDOT traffic management systems during phased construction. Additional scope includes temporary traffic control electrical systems, conduit and duct bank infrastructure, electrical commissioning, and support of maintenance of traffic operations throughout the corridor.
